Creativity & 15 minutes

Before we entered the world we are in now, my city is currently under a stay-at home order, I read two articles on NPR. One was talking about how exercise adds up in ways that may surprise us, like vacuuming or dancing around the kitchen to the new Dua Lipa album (anyone? just me?). The gist was 15 minutes of exercise, of movement can do a lot for you.

Within the same time frame, I read a second article about how important it was to build at least some time to put down the phone and create. I appreciated how both emphasized that small time allotments add up. We may all want those structured times to prove we are headed toward something--but anything is better nothing. I still have days I don't write. I still have days where I don't feel like creating or moving. Yet, when I do, I always feel better. It's a lot easier to turn down the noise of the inner critic when I'm just getting some words on the page, when it's just for me, just a few pages. Just a dance in the kitchen in my socks slipping and sliding.

Now more then ever those 15 minutes feel precious. I hope you are able to find time for yourselves, lovelies.

Take Care!
